Beaver Moon

harvest button

Hi everyone! Happy November! I have been admiring the moon these past couple of nights….it is so bright and full…simply beautiful! I was watching the local news yesterday and they referred to this moon as the “Beaver Moon”. I myself have never heard of this name, so I did a little research of Native American names and the meanings. November is Full Beaver Moon~meaning, this was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm furs. Another interpretation that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter….burrrrrr! One other reference is Frosty Moon….cute name!  There is a name for the moon for every month of the year. Do you know what December’s moon is named??? Cold Moon~ Fitting for December. I just found this interesting and wanted to share. I hope all of you are staying warm and cozy.

  4. Very interesting! I enjoyed the lesson. I have been noticing it myself. With daylight savings time it has been up still fairly high in the morning when I head into work, about 6:45 MDT. Sure is pretty! Jayne
