Kitchen Re-do~DONE!!!!!

I read on a blog recently that the kitchen is the heart of the home...that statement is so true!  Here in my home it is the main room that we all gather in.  Living in a 300 year old house definitely has many challenges. I only have a few electrical outlets to use, the space is very inefficient, barely any counter space and cabinet space is minimum to say the least!! Add to the fact that I love to decorate and display my collections with not having much space equals..Clutter!!!! When my fridge went on the blink and it finally was time to buy a new one, that lead to a total rearrangement of my kitchen. Excitement was a understatement as I started to picture my '''new work space'' , purging was a must, not something that I like to do, but I knew had to be done. You can see in my before pictures that I really needed to remove some things.

Here is the view coming into my kitchen from the back door

Below is the new view and I really like it so much  better! The old fridge had to set in front of the front door because it was to big to be placed where it was suppose to be. (DH did not measure when we purchased the old side by side) I had to down size the new fridge to be able to get the right size for under my cabinets, so it is a adjustment for space, but I am not complaining..I love my new fridge! My other new piece is the step cupboard that I married together. The base was where I had my microwave setting and the top was my aquarium stand which was taking up space in the office and I couldn't figure out where it was going until the thought of setting it on top of my base cabinet was born and Walla!! a new piece and more storage!! I can't believe how the match :)

Another view, before I brought in my cabinet..

After view with my new cabinet..

Before..Kitchen stairway to the upstairs (the slant desk was my Dad's when he was a child in school and my Grandmother gave it to me when I was in elementary school..I cherish that desk)

After..Kitchen stairway.. (This is also Cash's corner)

Walk in fireplace, built in pantry and built in step cupboard, all original to the house.

My kitchen table is a Hutch table I bought 37 years ago and the barrel chairs I bought at a yard sale last year. They came out of a old cafe in WV.

My stove is a 1976 model that I bought off of Craig's List, came out of a old farm house up north, like brand new, only one burner had been used and the ovens were never used..good buy, I thought!

And this is the only counter/work space that I have, so you see my kitchen is not very efficient but I love it! Someday we plan to expand the kitchen with a addition, but in the meantime I work with what I have. In the spring I will be painting my kitchen walls and upper cabinets.

This sure was a picture loaded post. I have been working on my kitchen for a month now and I still have some tweaking to do, but for the most it is done. Now on to the next room, I'll have some TS finds to show you on my next post.

Until the next time

Cabinet Re-do

Hope everyone has not blown away today! It has been a very blustery day here in Pa. today, things were blowing everywhere, I am happy to say that we did not have any damage and I didn’t lose any of my fall decorations…yay!! Other than the wind it was a nice Fall day!

I took my Mother today and we went to a new TS. The first 200 customers received a $20.00 gift card. Well I have never been the first to any of these grand openings but today we made a plan and we were off at 7:30 this morning. Mom and I thought we would probably be back in line pretty far but to our surprise we one of the first there. We walked up to the door and were the third in line. I can’t believe it!! I guess the actual wait time was about a hour and 15 minutes. We did get our gift card and a real nice checkbook cover. It was great fun and we had fun chit chatting with the other ladies that came in line behind us. The wind was kind of a nuisance (you wouldn’t want to have a good hair day) but it was worth it!! Boy girls did I find the buys!!! I will share the pictures when I get them downloaded, but I had a GOOD day!!!

I went to the Adams County Apple Harvest craft show on Sunday and had a good time there too.

They even had a Hay Mound for adults…..

not the kind of hay mound your were expecting????? lol

I did purchase a few things, some of the vendors that I usually purchase from were not there :( so my pickens were slim!

I bought this adorable small scarecrow, he fits perfect on top of my wall cupboard…isn’t he cute?

Love these little felt flowers (the vase is a previous TS find), I believe I seen a tutorial for these on someone's blog, but they are cute!

I just couldn’t resist this sweet little Witch, just love her!

Hubby and I ate to our hearts content…everything apple! Boy was I stuffed when I left there, what a day…. good eats and fun shopping, a nice end to the weekend!

Now to the re-do. I have been working on this cabinet base since Labor Day (it is the one that I previously posted that I had bought at the public sale). Weeell it is finally finished….

The day of the sale…….

getting started…..

I didn’t touch the top of the cabinet….love the patina on the wood.

Getting it in place…couldn’t wait to start using it….

And here it is finished..I painted it Antique Pewter (Old Village) on the body and the inserts of the doors are Colonial White (Old Village) and then I rubbed dark walnut stain all over. I love the result, and I am glad it is finished!!!  I am still tweaking the kitchen and when I am done I will post the before/after pictures.

So that is all for now, that was quite a overload of pictures wasn’t it??  I will post some of my TS finds soon and hopefully the finished kitchen.

Thanks so much to all of you for visiting and for all of  your sweet comments. I love stopping by your blog homes and getting inspiration!!!  My blog door is always open to you! Please stop back again!

Until the next time!

Beautiful Fall Day

I hope this finds all of you enjoying this beautiful Fall weekend. It has been a gorgeous day here in Pa. I have been working hard on my kitchen, cleaning out all of my cabinets, washing the inside and out. Sorta fall house cleaning and it feels good. I am really de-cluttering! When I am finished (which I hope I am soon done) I will post pictures.

I did take time today to go outside and so a little Fall decorating. fall front porch 09 #2

This is my front porch, as you can see we live real close to the road, makes it hard to keep things clean, we get a lot of road dirt!

I just love my corn wreaths! I didn't get my corn shucks done yet, I  don't know that I will seeing how time is flying by!

I am still putting my things out inside, but tearing both the kitchen and office up at the same time, doesn’t leave me much time to put most of my things out ! Before we know it we will be decorating for Christmas!

The firkin lamp is a TS find and I am planning on primming it, in the meantime I will use it as it is.

Test and Kitchen Re-Do

Good evening everyone! I am testing Live Writer. It is different from Blogger, I think I like all of the different choices that is offered.

This will be a short post this evening. As I told you in a earlier post my refrigerator went on the blink and we bought a new one. That brought on a job that I have been wanting to do for quite a while, re-arrange my kitchen. So "What Ya Workin On Wed,"' has become , Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, ect. ect.!

I will give you a peek at my kitchen before I started this re-do

Kitchen before stove 1

You are looking at my back door, coming into my kitchen,Kitchen before fridge 1

This is the view coming into the kitchen. That large refrigerator has been sitting in front of our front door. Having the door open again has made such a huge difference and I love it!! When I finish with everything I will post more before and then all of the after pictures. I have really de-cluttered and re-arranged and I am loving the outcome. I have been so busy doing this that I have not done much Fall decorating, maybe toward the end of the week.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great week!!

Help! Blogger Issues

Hi Everyone! I am definitely having Blogger problems. I noticed from my last post that the picture did not upload. I have been trying and searching for a couple of days to solve this and I am getting nowhere! I was wondering if most of you use Live Writer? Being new at this I am a little intimidated by some of this. I am not sure if I did something wrong or it is Blogger's issues. I can not upload any pictures, it will not allow me to do anything but text, I can go to the upload box but is freezes and won't allow me to anything. I can't even search through my pictures to find what I want to try and upload.....frustrating!!! Can anyone give me some advice on how or what I should do???

Thanks for any help you can give!

Happy Fall

Just a short post to wish everyone a Happy Fall! This picture is from one of our rides that we take in the fall. There are several State Parks in our area, and we love to ride our Harley to all of the parks to enjoy the beautiful eye candy, this was taken on one of our rides from the other year. I am so looking forward to riding in the next few weeks to see the shades of Autumn. I will be posting new pictures as I take them. In the meantime I'm sure all of you are enjoying the beginning of Fall in your area.

Until the next time.

Busy~Busy~Busy!!!

Hi Everyone! Boy things sure have been busy around here, plus the extra activities of the holiday and local events. Last week was the annual event of Williams Grove Steam Engine week. I always enjoy going and walking around and looking at all of the steam engines and the activities they preform. It is like walking back in time.

There are horse drawn wagons for nice leisure rides through the park, still love to ride the wagon! lol

Of course there is a old fashion train ride to the end of the track and then backward to the station...all for $3.00!

The Granger's was always a annual event that my Dad never missed, we were always sure to go to see the steam engines and eat, eat and eat! Really good food. I sure would have loved to take Dad with us, I know he would have enjoyed, but I showed him the pictures and that brought a smile.

On Labor Day I went to a annual sale that is held at a auction house in the area. I go every year and never come home empty handed. This year there were so many big pieces that I would have loved to have had, but alas my house is not big enough :( the prices were very reasonable. The reason being that they were painted with different faux finishes. All of the original items brought prices that I still thought were reasonable for antiques.

The flowered chest of drawers only brought $12.00, which I would have given $20.00 for it, not primitive but there was just something about it that caught my eye. The step back and the painted corner cupboard brought over $100.00. I was wishing for the lottery and a BIG house, I would have loved to have many of the pieces. I did buy a cupboard that I am totally doing over as you can see....I don't care much for the faux paint, so I am sanding and repainting.

I have stripped all of the hardware and will change those. The top is wide stained boards that I just love the patina they have, very warm. I am painting the base and doors. I will post when I have completed. I can't wait to finish it.

I also found some treasures at the TS and yard sales. This crock candle holder I found at the TS for $0.25....I couldn't believe it, I brought it home cleaned it up and put the candle and pip berries on and I absolutely love it!!

I also found this firkin lamp for $1.00 at the TS, I will prim it up, I don't have a Michele here at my house and I would rather see it primmed!

Last but not least I found the pear cutting board for $0.25 at a yard sale, brought it home and just distressed a little and gave it a coat of BRI and I love it. (Couldn't get the pictures to load in the right sequence..I am still learning how to do all of this :)

After

Before

Fall is defiantly in the air here in Pa. and I must get my decorating started....I am way behind, it is maintenance year here at our house and there is still a lot to get done before the snow flies. We just had our house and barn roof painted, we have the standing seam tin roof on the house and barn. Our house is begging for a new coat of paint, which we do that ourselves. It has been about 7 years since we painted and this is the year we are hoping to get completed, I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will happen, but if not, spring will come....and to top it off my refrigerator is toast and we had to buy a new one (I actually have been waiting for this, I have been wanting a french door with the freezer on the bottom :) and now I am getting one. That also means a lot of changing around in my kitchen, so I will have alot tore up till I get it all done. So between taking care of Dad and trying to get all of our things done before winter, my posts will be sporadic.

I will post some decorating when I get some done. I love looking at all of your decorating...really puts me in the spirit of things and makes me want to start.

Well I hope all of you are having a great weekend!

Until the next time!
